Wing Tip Finishing – Part 1

Began prepping wingtips and tip light fairings for paint and final finishing. Located tip lights onto wing tip light fairings and drilled wire pass through hole and mounting screw holes; tip lights will attach to fairing with Dynon panel screws and elastic nuts. Located tip light fairings on the wing tips by aligning center of light to the widest part of the wing (just aft of the main spar). Transferred mounting holes from the tip light fairings to the wing tips then drilled holes for nutplates. Cut large maintenance holes in wing tips where fairing will cover so that lights can be disconnected. Sanded outside edges of wing tips to prep for filler to be applied and deburred holes. Applied clear packing tape along outside edge of wing skins and reinstalled wing tips. Packed SuperFil into edges where there was a gap between the wing tip flange and the wing skin. Will remove and sand down wing tips in the future.
