Blue Paint Prep

Started prepping the fuselage for blue paint by laying out lines as designed in CAD. Bottom edge of the blue will be 2″ below skin overlap and taper to 0″ at the aft end of the aircraft and forward vertical blue stripe is 2″ from firewall edge. Radius at front of plane will be 7.5″. After marking lines, used striping tape to make a clean edge then followed up with blue masking tape. Made curve template for wing tips from poster board using 7.5″ radius one direction and 2.5″ radius the other direction. Curves start at spar line. After design was marked on the wings, temporarily installed ailerons to transfer lines to them. Repeated taping process on wings and ailerons. After design was marked and taped, began prepping surfaces that will get blue paint by scuffing with 800 grit sandpaper per recommendation from Eastwood. Will wait to tape up drop cloths on wings and fuselage until closer to paint time. Used garbage bags to cover white parts of ailerons.
