Cowl Fitment – Part 2

Decided to solve oil cooler clearance issue by moving oil cooler up by about 5/8″. Removed oil cooler bracket from bottom of engine and remade bracket from 1.5″ x 1.5″ aluminum angle stock with shorter leg. Installed new bracket on bottom of engine with Loctite 242 then reinstalled oil cooler to new bracket. Reinstalled lower cowl and verified oil cooler interference was eliminated and prop opening fell to an acceptable location. Removed cowl to trim away air intake openings and open up RH gear leg hole slightly. Reinstalled cowl and verified lower cowl fit properly into place. Bolted prop spacer to prop hub and used screws to temporarily secure front of cowl to the proper place; will patch screw holes at later time. Cut left, right, and bottom cowl hinge halves from piano hinge stock and drilled pilot holes. Also cut and bent hinge pins then installed hinge halves and pins to firewall hinges in preparation of mounting to cowl.
