Removed upper cowl from lower cowl again and began sanding upper cowl. Started with 60 grit and moved up to 240 grit sandpaper to better blend transition area. Finished sanding with upper cowl mocked up onto lower cowl to better blend transition. After sanding most of the new work with 240 grit, discovered a few “valleys” that needed more micro. Mixed up a stiff batch of micro and filled in low valley areas with a popsicle stick; hopefully this will be the last time filler is needed. Set upper cowl aside and removed lower cowl from aircraft. Marked cowl vent cutout pattern from plans on each side of lower cowl and cut out radii with 2″ and 0.5″ drill bits. Used rotary tool to cut the rest of the openings then sanded openings smooth. Test fit cowl vents; fit check good. Drew out exhaust tunnel pattern on lower cowl then trimmed exhaust tunnel area out to a rough area.
