Began smoke system installation by drilling 5/8″ holes in exhaust pipes as far up as possible. Cut stainless steel mount plates out of firewall scrap and drilled 1/2″ hole in center of plates. Assembled sprayers with plates using machine bushings to tighten sprayers to plates. Applied Permatex exhaust sealant underneath sprayer plates and secured sprayers to exhaust pipes using worm clamps then mounted exhaust pipes to engine. Drilled 3/8″ hole through bottom left of firewall and ran PFTE smoke fluid tube along LH side of fuselage then around to rear spar carry-through. Secured tube with zip ties and added protective rubber hose over area by rudder pedals. Made fluid tube cap out of spare plumbing parts to prevent exhaust gas from entering cockpit when smoke tank is not installed. Bent and cut stainless steel tubes that will transition flex line to sprayers and help dissipate heat. Attached stainless tubes via compression fittings. Mounted divider tee on LH side of engine mount and connected fluid tubes and sprayers.
