Began the process of color sanding and buffing painted surfaces. Starting with the tail, wet sanded each surface with 1000 grit sanding sponges to knock down high spots and imperfections. Avoided sanding rivets and focusing on one area too long. Sanded until surface felt smooth and most orange peel was gone. Wiped area clean then repeated process with 2000 grit sanding sponges and water. Second sanding took about 3/4 of the time of initial sanding. After sanding was complete, wiped area down again then buffed with Meguiar’s M100 and DA polisher with microfiber pad. After buffing surface, wiped it down with a microfiber cloth and buffed again with Meguiar’s M200 and foam polishing pad. Final wiped area with cloth. While not perfect, polishing did make a significant difference in surface smoothness and shine. Repeated this process for undersides of both wings and top of RH wing for now.
