Cowl Nutplates and Oil Door Fabrication

Updrilled cowl shelf, lower cowl, and upper cowl, and drilled and riveted nut plates onto cowl shelf and lower cowl. Temporarily installed upper cowl onto aircraft with screws to verify alignment and fitment; checks good. Located oil dipstick with flashlight and marked location of oil door on upper cowl. Removed upper cowl and cut rough opening. Made oil door out of scrap aluminum and cut piano hinge for attachment. Pilot drilled and clecoed hinge to oil door and cowl to check fitment. Made 0.025″ spacer to go under hinge in cowl to hold door closer to cowl. Updrilled holes and riveted hinge halves to cowl and oil door. Verified operation then drilled pilot hole for SkyBolt fastener. Will install after paint. Made engine preheat and optimate charger mount plate out of scrap aluminum and attached it to RH cowl exhaust outlet lip with AN3 hardware. Secured plug and charging port to mount plate with Adel clamps.
