Ran engine after installing #2.5 AeroInjector needle and re-tapping threads in needle carrier. Got much better results with EGT spread between full rich EGT and peak stumbling coming in around 120 degrees. AeroInjector Reinstallation
Reassembled AeroInjector with new throttle cable and 2.5 needle. Reinstalled AeroInjector onto engine and attached controls. Reinstalled safety wire and attached new air filter element. Used safety wire to temporarily hold up oil cooler baffle for engine runs. Final installed prop and spinner with new AN6 hardware. Finally installed exhaust pipes in preparation to continue…

Began process of tuning the AeroInjector. Immediately had issues getting engine started and struggled to keep it idling normally. Engine Baffle Installation – Part 3
Removed AeroInjector needle carrier and replaced stock #2 needle with recommended #3 needle. Reinstalled needle carrier and set needle setting per manual by marking start of taper and aligning it with top of throttle slide. Reinstalled set screw and dust cap. Firewall Sealant and Engine Preheat Wiring
Removed wire grommet covers from firewall for fear of wire chaffing and riveted open holes closed. Riveted upper cowl shelf to windshield skirt. Applied 3M Fire Barrier Sealant CP 25WB+ to gaps in firewall around motor mounts and on seam between windshield skirt and upper firewall. Also applied sealant to wire bundles, brake lines, and…
Oil Separator Relocation
Due to exhaust tunnel interference, removed oil separator from firewall and fabricated bracket out of scrap aluminum angle to move cannister up about 1.25″. Reinstalled oil separator and reconnected vent line. Hours Worked: 1.15
Exhaust Tunnels – Part 1
Bent exhaust tunnels and outlet lips from firewall forward kit blanks. Made flange tool out of scrap phenolic. Bent tunnel sides using bending brake then bent mounting flanges using homemade flange tool. Aligned exhaust tunnels onto newly cut cowl openings and pilot drilled and clecoed exhaust tunnels to lower cowl. Tried to install lower cowl…
First Engine Run Prep
Began preparing engine for first run by draining preservation oil from engine and replacing 3.7 quarts of Shell 15W-50 oil. Replaced oil filter with NAPA 1394 Gold oil filter. Removed and replaced all 12 NGK D9EA spark plugs and set gap at 0.023″. Torqued rocker cover bolts to spec. Installed Sonex exhaust pipes onto engine…
Initial Prop Installation
Began initial prop installation by enlarging holes in Jabiru prop bushings from 1/4″ to 3/8″ using drill press. Verified holes in prop did not need any reaming but needed to ream holes in spinner slightly to allow for smooth bolt installation. Bolted prop and spinner to prop flange using AN6 hardware and AN363 lock nuts.…
Engine Sensor Installation
Installed rubber baffle material onto oil cooler duct. Installed EGT and CHT sensors onto engine and completed FWF wiring harness routing (other than oil pan heater). Verified temp probe operation with SkyView system then secured wires and routing in engine compartment. Secured throttle and mixture cables to engine mount using Adel clamps and started mapping…

Installed rubber baffle sections onto engine cylinder baffles with AAP rivets. Test fit baffles back onto engine and checked clearances. Installed spark plug wire grommets onto spark plug harnesses. Hours Worked: 2.27
